bell hooks is one of the most influential social activists and Feminists who opened everyone's hearts and minds to the feminist movement. During the dawn of the new millennium she published Feminism is for Everybody: passionate politics - a book about passionate politics, with a goal to change the narrative of the feminist movement by mending the divisions within it as well as rewriting feminist ideology in a way that everyone can understand and support. Within her book she discusses an array of topics including: reproductive rights, sexual violence, race, class and work to address and end sexism, oppression and sexual exploitation.

As a collective, we the writers of the website believe in the message bell hooks is sending that there can be a world where women's rights are valued by everyone. Our blog was created to open the discussion about feminist ideology and feminist issues to the public, regardless of gender etc. Our group of writers found inspiration and connection to the message bell hooks promoted and we wanted to respectfully pay tribute to her and all of her contributions to the Feminist Movement. When naming our blog, we were drawn to the title Feminism is for Everyone as it would best represent the inclusive and diverse environment we plan to create here. Feminism should be for everyone, but until then we hope to aid in sending the message that it can be by using blogging as a form of consciousness-raising.
